LIVE STREAM: Bloodhund rocket test

The Bristol-engineered project to create a 1,000mph car is taking its next big step towards its supersonic goal tomorrow, with the first test-firing of its rocket.

The team behind the Bloodhound SSC (supersonic car) project will test fire its hybrid rocket at the Aerohub, at Newquay Cornwall Airport, tomorrow afternoon.

Streaming by Ustream [You can make this full screen by hovering your mouse over the window above and clicking the arrow in the bottom right corner.] Bloodhound's engineers will be testing the complete rocket system for the first time, comprising of the Cosworth CA2010 F1 engine, high-test peroxide tank, custom designed gear box, the car's critical software and the Falcon hybrid rocket. The team hope to break the world land speed record of 763mph in its first run in the South African desert next year, and return in 2014 to attempt to break the 1,000mph barrier. Tomorrow's event represents the most significant milestone yet in the development of the supersonic car.
